About
The aim of this website is to share information about the Burma crisis and all problems resulting from the crisis.
You can find information about Burmese political imprisonment, refugees and immigrants.
About 2 million Burmese live in Thailand trying to build up a new future. Thailand has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention and does not recognize the status of refugees. As a result, asylum seekers are not distinguished from other immigrants, legal or illegal and are easily exploited by sweatshops and the Thai government. Therefor Thailand is a big focus on our website.
There are many ways to contribute to the less privileged Burmese refugees and immigrants. Donated clothes, money or other helpful items are going directly to the people who are living on the garbage dump and/or orphanages and schools in Thailand. Burmese schools aren’t recognized as schools by the Thai government and can only function on donations or private funding. We also have a documentary about illegal immigrants made my Pieter-Henk van Wijk. It shows how the Burmese live in Thailand and have to endure different hardships to make a living.
We would appreciate comments on the website.
